Here’s what it entails: Consistent Training: You'll need to follow a rigorous training schedule, often including daily workouts that span multiple hours. This includes swimming, cycling, running, strength training, and recovery sessions. Mental Fortitude: Training for an Ironman is as much a mental challenge as a physical one. You’ll need to stay motivated, focused, and resilient through tough workouts and challenging conditions. Time Management: Balancing training with personal and professional responsibilities requires excellent time management skills. This might mean early morning workouts, weekend long rides, and fitting training around your work schedule. Lifestyle Adjustments: Your lifestyle will likely need to adapt to support your training. This can include changes in diet, sleep patterns, and social activities to ensure you are optimizing your performance and recovery. Recovery and Self-Care: Investing effort also means taking care of your body through proper nutrition, hydration, stretching, and perhaps physical therapy or massage to prevent injuries and enhance recovery. Bike accessories: $200 - $1,000 Includes helmet, cycling shoes, sunglasses, water bottles and cages, lights, etc. Wetsuit: $200 - $1,000 Necessary for open water swimming, especially in colder climates. Triathlon clothing: $100 - $300 Specific triathlon kits that are comfortable for all three disciplines. Running shoes: $100 - $200 Necessary for the running portion and should be replaced regularly.
